Front-end Engineer

Smithy creates Open Core cybersecurity tools. Our first solution is a security workflow engine that makes it easy to automatically run any security tool and integrate it into any organisation. We care about improving the day-to-day experience of our cybersecurity professionals. We aim to improve their efficiency and reduce burnout and repetitive tasks massively.

We are a team of curious engineers, passionate about learning and finding innovative ways to change the world with tech. Since we got funded a few months ago, we have been growing fast and are now looking for a front-end engineer to help us set new standards for how companies manage and interact with their security workflows.

About the position

You will be responsible for designing and building Smithy. You will be involved in the entire product development lifecycle, which includes design, development, deployment, and maintenance of new and existing features. You’ll work closely with the rest of the team to ensure system consistency and to create a great user experience.
The Front-end stack is Vue 3, Pinia, Vue Flow, TypeScript, and Cypress for testing.

About you

We are looking for someone who can grow fast, a lifelong learner who wants to develop their skills. If you can learn fast, do not worry if you don’t fit all of the below.

  1. You are a product-minded front-end engineer who wants to drive for the best possible version of the product.
  2. You are an expert in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and at least one frontend framework such as Vue or React. You are confident that you can style web applications without needing TailWindCSS.
  3. You have experience with testing and debugging.
  4. You are analytical, self-motivated and good at time management.
  5. You have excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  6. You are curious about new technologies and find ways to implement them in your work.
  7. You have technical and consumer curiosity.
  8. You can troubleshoot problems in the team and for users.
  9. You are proactive and can oversee and drive projects forward
  10. [Optional] You have an interest in UX design and understand the entire design process
  11. [Optional] You can build APIs in a back-end language like Go or Python

We work as a team

We work in-office 4 days a week. Try to eliminate silos and learn from each other as much as possible. We communicate a lot and maintain a balance between verbal communication, puns and deep work.

Hiring Process

We try to move fast, and our hiring process respects your time. If we are a match, you will be with us after a 2-step process. After the initial chat with the recruiter, the first step is a 30-minute coffee or chat with at least one team member so we can meet each other. This is followed by a 2-hour technical interview, during which we worked on a toy project and a related code challenge (Please bring your laptop for this). The last stage of the process is a chat/coffee/dinner/outing with the team.
